Question 1

What makes a caption feel authentic for Gen Z?

Accepted Answer

Authenticity over aspiration. Gen Z captions often undercut themselves intentionally — 'main character energy (she's delusional)', 'healing but make it chaotic', 'the villain arc was necessary.' They acknowledge the performance while also genuinely meaning it. No inspirational posters.

Question 2

Do Gen Z captions use lowercase on purpose?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Lowercase signals casual authenticity — it reads as effortless rather than performed. It's the textual equivalent of 'I woke up like this.' Inconsistent capitalization is also common and intentional, not a typo.

Question 3

What Gen Z slang is actually still relevant in 2026?

Accepted Answer

Terms with staying power include: 'understood the assignment', 'no cap', 'lowkey/highkey', 'this is the way', 'main character', 'era' (your [x] era), 'understood the assignment', and 'not me [verb]-ing'. Avoid anything that peaked on TikTok 2+ years ago.
